सुहृन्मित्रार्युदासीनमध्यस्थद्वेष्यबन्धुषु।
साधुष्वपि च पापेषु समबुद्धिर्विशिष्यते।।6.9।।
suhṛin-mitrāryudāsīna-madhyastha-dveṣhya-bandhuṣhu
sādhuṣhvapi cha pāpeṣhu sama-buddhir viśhiṣhyate
अर्थ: जो शुभचिंतक, मित्र, शत्रु, उदासीन, बीच-बचाव करने वाले, नफ़रत के लायक, रिश्तेदार, सज्जन और पापी, सबको एक-सी नज़र से देखता है, वह श्रेष्ठ है।
Meaning: One who regards with an equal mind well-wishers, friends, enemies, the indifferent, the neutral, the hateful, relatives, the good and the wicked, excels.
आत्मौपम्येन सर्वत्र समं पश्यति योऽर्जुन।
सुखं वा यदि वा दुःखं सः योगी परमो मतः।।6.32।।
ātmaupamyena sarvatra samaṁ paśhyati yo ’rjuna
sukhaṁ vā yadi vā duḥkhaṁ sa yogī paramo mataḥ
अर्थ: हे अर्जुन, जो अपने जैसा मानकर सब जगह सुख हो या दुख, एक-सा देखता है, वह योगी सबसे श्रेष्ठ माना जाता है।
Meaning: One who, by comparison with oneself, sees the same everywhere, O Arjuna, whether in pleasure or in pain, is regarded as the highest yogi.
अद्वेष्टा सर्वभूतानां मैत्रः करुण एव च।
निर्ममो निरहङ्कारः समदुःखसुखः क्षमी।।12.13।।
adveṣhṭā sarva-bhūtānāṁ maitraḥ karuṇa eva cha
nirmamo nirahankāraḥ sama-duḥkha-sukhaḥ kṣhamī
अर्थ: जो किसी प्राणी से नफ़रत नहीं करता, सबका मित्र है और दयालु है, "मेरा" और "मैं" के भाव से मुक्त है, सुख-दुख में एक-सा है, क्षमा करने वाला है,
Meaning: One who has no hatred for any being, who is friendly and compassionate, free from the sense of "mine" and from ego, the same in pleasure and pain, forgiving,
यस्मान्नोद्विजते लोको लोकान्नोद्विजते च यः।
हर्षामर्षभयोद्वेगैर्मुक्तो यः स च मे प्रियः।।12.15।।
yasmān nodvijate loko lokān nodvijate cha yaḥ
harṣhāmarṣha-bhayodvegair mukto yaḥ sa cha me priyaḥ
अर्थ: जिससे कोई परेशान नहीं होता और जो किसी से परेशान नहीं होता, जो हर्ष, ईर्ष्या, डर और घबराहट से मुक्त है, वह मुझे प्यारा है।
Meaning: One by whom the world is not disturbed, and who is not disturbed by the world, who is free from joy, envy, fear and anxiety, is dear to Me.
